Kōrero mō te tūranga | About the Role
For appointment at the senior level you will have proven macroeconomic analysis experience and evidence of excellent communication and strong relationship skills. You will be joining the Forecasting team, one of our three macroeconomic teams, which together represent one of the largest groupings of macroeconomic expertise in New Zealand.
**Together, our three macroeconomic teams are responsible for**:
- Monitoring and quantitative analysis on international and domestic economic developments
- Producing the economic and fiscal forecasts and projections published in the Budget and regular Economic and Fiscal Updates, and the Long-Term Fiscal Statement.
- Advising the Government on monetary and fiscal policy frameworks, and on its fiscal strategy
- Contributing to a wide range of economic policy issues and discussions both within the Treasury and externally, including through original research and modelling.
**In this role you will be**:
- Working in a strongly collaborative and supportive team undertaking analysis on the New Zealand economy
- Leading and contributing to the development of analysis and forecasts on the New Zealand economy, and boarder macroeconomic and fiscal policy issues
- Providing forecasts, quantitative analysis and monitoring reports
- Working across teams to provide technical/modelling support and shaping debate.
Ō pūmanawa | About You
- A post-graduate tertiary qualification in macroeconomics or related disciplines (economics, statistics or equivalent)
- Demonstrated experience in delivering analytical projects and working collaboratively with others
- Great communication skills with the ability to engage with non-technical audiences to convey findings
- Experience working with time series econometrics or statistical analysis would be an advantage
- Programming experience would be an advantage.
