**Te Whiwhinga mahi - The Opportunity
- Decarbonisation and Fleet Specialist**

This role leads our work looking for new opportunities to decarbonise our public transport fleet and infrastructure.

This includes leading work investigating and trialling hydrogen as a future fuel for our public transport services and supporting the assessment of new and existing bus and ferry fleets.

It also includes leading Auckland Transport's work to make sustainability related improvements to our public transport operational facilities, meeting the targets set out in our Sustainability Strategy.

**Key Tasks include**:

- Represent Public Transport and Active Modes (PTAM) as an SME for initiatives that support reducing transport emissions.
- Work closely with the Science and Sustainability team, being the key conduit between them and PTAM on sustainability matters, such as decarbonisation, climate change and waste minimisation.
- Working on initiatives to decarbonise AT's public transport fleet.
- Advising and influencing on the implementation of climate related policies across the Public Transport operational business.
- Working with the Science and Sustainability team to ensure all reporting obligations relating to public transport fleet and facilities are met
- Engaging with organisations across the hydrogen sector to share knowledge and identify new opportunities.
- Analysing results from AT's Low Emission bus and charger trials, and compiling recommendations for future opportunities arising from these.
- Inspecting new and existing bus and ferry fleet, and recording and collating the results of these inspections.
- Supporting the creation of strategy documents and contributing to business cases for investment decisions and funding to reduce carbon emissions across Public Transport and Active Modes.

**Ko koe tēnei | About you**
- A related degree or similar in environmental science and/or renewable and sustainable energy
- Desirable will be a Master's degree in environmental science and/or renewable and sustainable energy
- Training in sustainable transport and/or facility operations
- 5+ years' experience in sustainability related roles across industrial processes or transport operations
- Project management experience
- Understanding or interest in sustainable public transport operations
- Interest in new fleet technologies, sustainable transport and buildings
- Strategic understanding of PT Network and service components and their interfaces
