The Policy Puni is strategy led, and results driven. It provides advice directly to the Government and Government agencies on strategic policy issues, and evidence-based approaches to improve Māori wellbeing and support the advancement of iwi and Māori development.

Responsible for ensuring effective management of a policy team, you will be leading and contributing to a policy shop that can inform and influence the development of Māori Public policy practice across the whole of the Ministry.

We are leading policy thinking across the public service on the roles and obligations agencies have to, for and with Māori as citizens and as members of their whānau, hapū and iwi through the adoption of Te Tautuhi-ō-Rongo, our Māori Public Policy Framework. You will keep progressing this important work.

The role will also support and monitor the provision of quality policy advice from across the agency, helping to ensure Te Puni Kōkiri are exemplars of modern public policy practise in Aotearoa New Zealand.
