**_The role/Te mahi_**

Te Pokapū Aurorotanga/Centre for Early Learning in Medicine (CELM) in the Otago Medical School, are looking to appoint a Teaching Fellow or Professional Practice Fellow, to be the Lead Tutor for our Early Learning Medicine 3, Early Professional Experience module.

Early Professional Experience (EPE) provides students with a wide range of opportunities to work with patients and other health professionals. These learning experiences are supported by tutorial-based discussions, and collectively these introduce students to various social, clinical and professional issues, which help students bridge the gap between the theory and practice of clinical medicine.

The successful applicant will work closely with the EPE module convenor to support the development and delivery of teaching, learning and assessment in the Year 3 Early Professional Experience vertical module. This includes tutor training and support, preparation of learning material, leading tutorials and contributing to course assessment under the supervision of the EPE Convener.

Applicants with an interest in research will have opportunities to contribute to medical education research projects within CELM.

Applicants will be expected to work in the CELM offices in Dunedin.

**_About our team/ Mō te tīma_**

Staff in the CELM, along with staff in the Dunedin School of Medicine (DSM) and School of Biomedical Sciences (BMS), are responsible for teaching in years 2 & 3 of the Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MB ChB) Programme.

This teaching consists of a series of modules based on a holistic Te Whare Tapa Whā model of care, taught in whole class lectures, supported by laboratories and tutorials.

Included are three modules co-ordinated out of CELM - Clinical Skills, Integrated Cases and Early Professional Experience (EPE) - which are taught mainly in small group tutorial sessions. EPE includes an experiential learning component, which is mainly carried out in community settings.

This is a part-time (0.5 FTE), permanent position, based in Dunedin.

The University of Otago salary bands for a Teaching and Professional Practice Fellow (Medical and Dental) are from $67, 981 - $165, 443. The salary bands for a Senior Teaching and Professional Practice Fellow (Medical and Dental) are from $95, 020 - $165, 443.
