Our Social and Community Work programme within the School of Social Sciences in the Division of Humanities offers courses that are nationally and internationally recognised. Research is an integral part of what we do, with staff members and students spending significant time on research activities. Our staff have established reputations in their areas of expertise and the programme as a whole has an energetic research culture.

The Programme delivers two qualifications accredited by the Social Work Registration Board:

- A four-year Bachelor of Social Work and BSW (Hons).
- A two-year Master of Social and Community Work (Applied) for students with an undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline.

The Programme also offers a Master of Social Work for students who already have a registerable social work qualification and the opportunity to undertake PhD study.

**_The role/Te mahi_**

We are seeking to appoint a Professional Practice Fellow to support teaching across multiple papers in the Bachelor of Social Work and Masters in Social and Community Work (applied) papers.

In this role you will assist in the delivery of various teaching and administration tasks which include:

- Preparation of teaching materials.
- Delivering tutorials and workshops.
- Undertaking assessment and administration duties.
- Being part of a team offering a substantial level of pastoral care, particularly for distance students within the professional programme.

**_Your skills and experience/Kā pūkeka me kā wheako_**

It is expected that you will have:

- A bachelor’s degree or higher in Social and Community Work plus demonstrable, relevant and suitable professional experience, in consideration of Section 100 and 101 of the Social Workers Registration Act.
- Registration with the Social Workers Registration Board and a current annual practising certificate (APC).
- Strong understanding of Kaupapa Māori social work theory and methods for work in social service organisations.
- An understanding of Te Reo Māori will be well regarded.
- Demonstrated teaching experience at tertiary level.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Proven ability to work with students and staff from differing academic and cultural backgrounds, from all departments and divisions, and at all levels of the institution.
- A commitment to developing collaborative working relationships with colleagues and to supporting the University’s Māori, Pacific, and Sustainability strategic frameworks.
