About the Committee
Members undertake panel activities as independent persons. Members are not appointed as representatives of professional organisations and/or particular community bodies.
Members of the Panel are appointed by the Director-General by written notice for a term of up to three years.Members may be reappointed from time to time up to a maximum term of nine years.
Secretariat support for the Panel will be provided by Suicide Prevention Office (SPO), which is a business unit within Manatū Hauora.
Kōrero mōu | About you
Applications are sought from people with a significant level of expertise in at least one of the member categories noted below.
- suicide prevention
- media
- tikanga Māori
- Māori youth suicide
**Successful applicants will be able to demonstrate**:
- a significant level of expertise in at least one of the member categories above
- be able to weigh conflicting and sensitive information and come to a robust, defensible, timely and independent view
- be able to negotiate complex and ambiguous social and cultural issues
- be able to work independently and as part of a collective
- be available to the Chief Coroner at short notice and on an ongoing basis.
