**What will you be doing?**
As Actuarial Business Insights Lead, you will play a key role in positively impacting our business through influencing Tower's strategic direction by turning portfolio data, reporting, and analyses into actionable insights to adopt and embed across the business.
Reporting directly to the Head of Underwriting, you will work with a wide variety of teams across the organisation, by understanding the financial levers across all aspects of Tower's risk portfolios and operational processes, you will contribute to the success of Tower's Product, Pricing and Underwriting practices and facilitate superior business growth and profitability
You can expect to be across the following:
- Lead portfolio monitoring, reporting, analytics, and portfolio recommendations across all of Tower's insurance portfolios, within both New Zealand and the Pacific
- Collaborate with different teams across the business, including Finance, Claims and Reserving, to truly understand financial and operational performance for each portfolio and for the business as a whole.
- Utilise your broad understanding of Tower's performance and the insurance markets it operates in to propose and gain approval for pricing, underwriting and proposition changes to continually meet performance and strategic targets
- Work with Pricing, Underwriting and Technology teams to successfully implement approved changes, complete the feedback loop, and ensure the business continues to evolve in line with its strategic ambitions
- Inspire, develop and support Product, Pricing and Underwriting colleagues in their day to day work through data-related performance insights
- Motivate teams, build strong capabilities, and develop talent
**What you'll need**
**To be successful in this role, you will also be able to demonstrate the following**:
- 5+ years' experience in the General Insurance industry or within an insurance-related Actuarial role
- Familiarity and understanding of insurance performance measures, including insurance P&L's, Capital and Solvency
- Strong problem-solving skills and interests
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) is a must. Familiarity with PowerBI would be a benefit, but not essential
- Strong collaborative and influencing skills. Confidence working with a variety of teams
- Ability to share insights through different mediums, including formal papers and presentations to senior and executive business leaders
- Strategic thinking, developing medium to long term roadmaps for delivering stable and sustainable financial performance
- Training and mentoring junior team members
