**The Role**:
Reporting to the Engineering and Design Manager, the Senior Hydropower Engineer is our specialist in all-things hydropower. Overtime you can build your local connections and global reputation to become the principal hydropower engineer, filling the big shoes left by our esteemed and retired Graeme Warren. We see this person as a well-seasoned hydropower engineer, with sound technical skills and broad engineering experience, looking to impact the New Zealand energy sector. You’ll primarily be responsible for:

- Leading design and engineering work within hydropower stations and ancillary equipment
- Being the technical advisor for hydro refurbishment projects and supporting tendering activities
- Shaping the hydropower engineering service strategy
- Elevating the MB Century engineering capability by mentoring and develop the next generation of engineers
- Developing and supporting geothermal engineering skills

**About You**:
With at least 10 years’ experience in hydropower engineering, maintenance, refurbishment and overhaul projects, you’ll have a proven track record with the design of hydropower and ancillary equipment.

In addition, you’ll bring:

- High level investigative and technical negotiating skills
- Capability to build sustainable relationships, negotiate and develop people
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in person and in writing, with attention to detail
- Strong interpersonal skills, work in multi-disciplinary teams, manage client expectations, build relationships and utilise tack and diplomacy
- Financial and commercial understanding
- Local and international connections in hydro energy sector
- Must be tertiary qualified as a Mechanical Engineer, ideally with post graduate qualifications and NZ CPEng membership

This role is primarily office based, but you will also interact with clients and field staff on site.
