Ngā Pae o te Māramatanga is New Zealand’s Māori Centre of Research Excellence and is hosted at the University of Auckland. Comprised of 21 partner entities and conducting research of relevance to Māori communities, NPM research realises Māori aspirations for positive engagement in national life, enhances excellence in Indigenous scholarship and provides solutions to major challenges facing humanity in local and global settings.

NPM’s vision is “Flourishing Māori Futures”. NPM prides itself in providing a uniquely Māori working environment guided by the values of Rangatiratanga, Kaitiakitanga, Manaakitanga and Whanaungatanga.

Based in the Faculty of Arts, the Ngā Pae o te Māramatanga secretariat is situated in the uniquely kaupapa Māori environment of Waipapa marae. From here you will have the opportunity to work with established Māori researchers and support new and emerging Māori scholars across the country. **Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity**

We are looking for a dynamic and energetic person to join our Ngā Pae o te Māramatanga (NPM) team as **Pouhere Whakaaweawe | Knowledge and Impact Manager**.

Under the leadership of Pou Matarua Co-Directors Professors Linda Waimarie Nikora and Tahu Kukutai and working with senior Māori research leaders, you will provide expertise and leadership to drive the (NPM) Whakaaweawe - Impact strategy. You will be a clear communicator and effectively and actively manage impact and outreach initiatives. You will understand research to impact pathways, be confident making new relationships with people and entities across the research and policy sectors, be at home in Te Ao Māori and Te Reo Māori spaces, and excel as part of a kaupapa Māori team. Your excellent written and communication skills will be vital to bringing together and coordinating diverse perspectives from research communities and users, team members and stakeholders.

This is an exciting opportunity for the right person to bring their expertise to Ngā Pae o te Māramatanga as we seek to optimise our research and impact strategies and strengthen our engagement and relationships.

This is a **full-time** (37.5 hours), **2.5-year fixed term** position.

The salary range for this role is between $76,200 - 94,100 based on experience and qualifications.

**He kōrero mōu | About you**

To be successful in this role, you will ideally have the following experience and skills:

- A Master’s degree or relevant tertiary qualification, preferably with a major in social science, law, environmental studies, economics, public policy, social policy, or political science
- Strategic and proven relationship building and collaboration skills
- Experience initiating to completion research informed policy, impact and transformation strategies
- An excellent oral and written communicator across varied audiences and media
- Excels in Māori work environment
- Knowledge of political, economic, social and Te Ao Māori aspects of Aotearoa New Zealand life
- Sound knowledge of and skills relevant to the research cycle, policy development and impact process
- Confidence to write and communicate research findings for insightful and strategic impact
- Excellent word processing and data management capability
