**Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity**

The primary purpose of the role is to lead a range of procurement functions including the development and execution of procurement strategies for the relevant categories and subcategories. Through progressive procurement you will work to deliver broader outcomes that encompass sustainability, equity, value add, innovation and risk management, while contributing to procurement strategy across specific sub-categories, including prioritisation of initiatives.

In this role you will develop sourcing strategies that manage probity and reflect the sub-category goals, while managing national, and regional procurement sourcing activities including: exemption management, procurement plan development, RFx processes, collaborative procurement, and/or secondary procurement process.

You will negotiate contract renewals or RFx contract outcomes as appropriate, facilitating contract sign off processes through appropriate governance channels and leading the technical/clinical evaluation process, including equipment/products/services evaluations, configuration workshop/presentations and reference site check process.

This role will see you working with a wide range of both internal and external stakeholders, including the Senior/Category/Procurement Managers to develop and maintain an appropriate programme for Supplier Relationship Management for the category/portfolio of suppliers.

You enjoy engaging across a wide varietry of industry stakeholders, developing strong and functional working relationships that enable improved deliverables and outcomes. You are an experienced procurement professional with a proven track record of establishing and building effective stakeholder relationships. You are someone who is well organised, with very strong commercial and financial skills and a strong attention to detail. You execute procurement strategies and plans managing the development and conclusion of complex contract negotiations. You work confidently, collaboratively and cooperatively with a broad cross functional team approach. You thrive in environments to champion change and support the development of detailed planing with a longer term focus and horizon.

**Ka kawea e koe | You will bring**:

- Proven procurement experience - 5+ years.
- Proven negotiation and contract management experience - 5+ years
- Extensive relevant experience with total cost of ownership / whole of life costing model and management of complex multi-stakeholder portfolios
- In depth knowledge of end to end procurement practice (preferably with working knowledge of Government procurement practice)
- Highly developed commercial skills that enable significant contributions to be made to the wider business agenda
- Ability to work strategically whilst simultaneously maintain a focus on detail
- Advanced interpersonal communication skills, speaking confidently and conveying clear and compelling messages
- Team player with excellent communication and influencing skills
- Confidence with qualitative and quantitative data analysis.
- Experience with a category management approach
- Experience in the development of commercial documents that demonstrate a high level of commercial acumen and sound knowledge of commercial contracts
- Competency with te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth
