We are looking for a new recruit to join our Regulatory Compliance team at Bay of Plenty Regional Council, as a Compliance Officer, specialising in the compliance of water takes that support primary industries.

This is a three-year fixed term role, working 40 hours per week and it can be based in your choice of our offices; Tauranga, Whakatāne or Rotorua.

**Te āhuatunga a te tūranga | About the role**

There will be plenty of variety in this role including:

- Assess water take resource consent compliance, including on-site inspections and PM compliance (e.g. water meter verifications).
- Provide timely follow-up to non-compliance and progress to enforcement action where necessary.
- Liaise with industry groups that rely on, or service water take consents i.e. Irrigation NZ, water meter verifiers and 3rd party data providers.

**Ō pūmanawa | Your skills and experience**

Along with a passion for your work, you will have;
- A relevant Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent level of experience.
- A minimum of 3 years post-qualification experience, preferably in the water resources field, or experience as a Regulatory Compliance Officer managing a variety of resource consents.
- A confident manner, with the ability to work autonomously, and communicate effectively to a wide range of audiences.
- An ability to project manage a large work portfolio
- Practical and pragmatic with excellent compliance management skills.
- The ability to build and maintain relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
- Hold a full New Zealand driver’s licence.
