Wellington City, New Zealand New Zealand Government Full time

Te Haeata/The Opportunity
The Office of the Chief Justice seeks an engaging, enthusiastic and meticulous Court Tours and Events Co-ordinator to join our busy Communications and Engagement Team in the Supreme Court Complex in Wellington.
This role has two components - firstly, you will organise and deliver informative and engaging tours for the Supreme Court, and other courts as required, to a range of audiences including school groups, community groups and visiting dignitaries.
Secondly, you will use your growing understanding of the courts and the judiciary to support our Judicial Events Manager to plan and implement an annual programme of ceremonial and judicial events - events that are governed by long-standing precedent and protocols that reflect Aotearoa New Zealand's bi-cultural heritage. This part of the role will include travel to some events, where necessary.

**You will be responsible for**:
Tours
- Guiding visitors through the Supreme Court complex.
- Planning tour content and adapting it to make sure it is interesting to the audience, drawing on the rich history of the courts of New Zealand and the building.
- Co-ordinating Supreme Court events, such as the open day for the court's 20th
- Promoting the tours to schools, and administering the bookings, etc, for each tour.

Judicial events
- Supporting the Judicial Events Manager to manage a busy calendar of judicial events - from managing guest lists and invitations through to venue booking, and organising accommodation and transport for visitors.

Ō pūkenga/Skills and Experience

**To be successful in this role you will**:

- Have previous tours experience or demonstrated public speaking or performance skills.
- Have experience in events planning, marketing or communications.
- Understand the judiciary and court processes, or be interested in learning.
- Be familiar with tikanga Māori and willing to continue to develop your understanding.
- Have excellent time management and planning
- Understanding of health and safety procedures
- Be knowledgeable and curious about this unique working environment
- Have excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Be able to think under pressure and respond appropriately.
- Plan meticulously, and manage your time effectively as you work towards immovable deadlines.

**We can offer you**:

- A fast-paced and interesting working environment
- A collaborative and supportive team culture - we look after each other.
- A competitive salary and a focus on your professional development

Mō mātou/About us
The Office of the Chief Justice (Te Tari) | Te Tari Toko i te Tumu Whakawā, supports the judiciary at the constitutional interface between the judiciary and executive. Te Tari is financially supported by the Ministry of Justice but remains otherwise independent.
The judiciary as an institution, and the Chief Justice and Heads of Bench as its leaders, have a unique responsibility to maintain the public's trust and confidence in the courts and the principles underpinning the justice system. The Communications and Engagement Team (which includes our events team) supports the judiciary to fulfil this responsibility by increasing the transparency and accessibility of the work of the courts, and improving public and media's understanding of the constitutional role of the judiciary and the principles that underpin our justice system. The judicial events calendar is an essential strand to this work.
