**Te Haeata / The Opportunity**
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a dynamic Risk and Internal Audit team that works closely with the Strategic Leadership Team to support the delivery of organisational strategy and priorities.
Reporting to the Manager Risk and Internal Audit, the Principal Advisor will provide practical, innovative, and solution-focused risk and internal audit advice that adds significant value to stakeholders at all levels across the Ministry.
The Principal Advisor will engage widely to ensure the Ministry is up to date with current thinking and will use their superior judgement and relationship management to:
- Enable and support every business, function, and individual to identify and manage their risks
- Ensure that appropriate frameworks and capabilities are in place to ensure that risk management and internal audit activities are delivered effectively
- Develop a broad view of risk, both operationally and strategically
- Identify insights that add value to our stakeholders
- Support and deliver a programme of internal audit reviews to improve the system of internal control and mitigate risks.
**Ō** pūkenga / Skills and Experience**
To be successful in the role you will demonstrate the following:
- Relevant tertiary qualification and / or equivalent knowledge, skills and experience in a risk management or internal audit discipline
- Significant experience in providing in-depth expertise and thought leadership on risk management and internal audit policies, frameworks, and practices
- Ability to think about the bigger strategic picture
- A stakeholder focused approach that builds enduring connections to improve outcomes
- Have an understanding and appreciation of cultural issues and concerns, in particular Tikanga Maori

**Utu ā-tau / **Salary**
The appointing salary for this role will be between $128,129 and $166,062 based on skills and experience.
