The opportunity:
Under the approved Risk Management Framework, Internal Audit represents the 3rd line of defense. Within this framework, Internal Audit is an independent function assigned to evaluate, test and report on the adequacy and effectiveness of management’s systems of internal control as well as the company’s compliance with legislative and regulatory requirements.
Internal Audit provides reports of its audits and reviews conducted to the Board Audit and Risk Committee, the regulators and HK Group Office. The external auditor, PwC, also places some reliance on the work undertaken by Internal Audit as to the extent of audit work undertaken by them.
Given this, Internal Audit’s mission is to:
- Provide the board, senior management and regulators with an independent assessment of our company’s ability to manage and control risk- Advise business managers on ways of enhancing their business’ capacity to manage risk- Plan and conduct risk-based audits, reviews and other special projects- Provide insights and recommendations which add value to the business- Manage relationships with relevant business stakeholders
About the role:
- Help identify key risks across the business, considering the relevant strategies and business environment- Assist in the preparation of the annual audit plan and schedules as required- Plan, lead and execute audits, reviews and other special projects across AIA- Ensure that working papers, draft audit reports and other deliverables meet internal standards and assignments are completed within budgeted time- Provide professional advice and insights to management to enable more informed decisions and enhance their capacity to manage risk- Lead discussion of issues and remedial action plans with the appropriate levels of management- Facilitate issuance of audit reports to management- Oversee outstanding audit issues and monitor timely completion of agreed remedial actions by management- Assist in the preparation of Committee reports (Audit, Risk) and other reporting required by Group Internal Audit HK- Coordinate and co-operate with other internal assurance providers and external auditors to leverage work performed, minimise interruption to the business and contribute to the implementation of an effective and efficient system of internal control- Complete all mandatory training and attend other optional training courses or industry seminars to improve technical competence-
- Evaluate the adequacy of Information System related controls according to established schedule and quality requirementsAbout you:- Big 4 Accounting Firm experience preferred- Strong understanding of risk management- Good understanding of IT principles and processes- Use of data analytics, including audit interrogation software (e.g. ACL) and visualisaton tools such as Tableau and Power BI- Knowledge of Waterfall and Agile Project Methodology, the associated risk and control requirements-
- Risk management and/or consultancy field in the life insurance industry is a definite advantage- Tertiary qualification in IT, Computer Science, Accounting or Business- Certified Internal Auditor, Qualified Chartered Accountant or CPA- Certificate holder of Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) or Certified Information Security Manager (CISM)
