Wellington City, New Zealand New Zealand Government Full time

We have an exciting opportunity for passionate and enthusiastic analysts to join us and help create positive change for Aotearoa.
- Join a team of Climate Change experts, thought leaders in their field of study
- Help understand the public's views on combatting climate change
- Opportunity to work across a wide range of topics

**Mo mātou | About us**:
He Pou a Rangi | The Climate Change Commission (the Commission) is an Independent Crown Entity established under the Climate Change Response Act 2002.
We provide independent, expert advice to the Government of Aotearoa on both mitigating and adapting to the effects of climate change, and we monitor and review the Government's progress towards its emissions reduction and adaptation goals. The Commission plays a key role in developing and implementing clear and stable climate change policies in Aotearoa.
In the past two years we've provided advice on the first three emissions budgets, the direction of the first emissions reduction plan, agricultural emissions pricing, and NZ Emissions Trading Scheme settings. We are now expanding our work programme. More details can be found here: Our upcoming work » Climate Change Commission (climatecommission.govt.nz)
Engagement is at the heart of what we do. And as a part of that engagement, we invite input from the public on multiple pieces of our advice. We then take that input and consider how it may change our final advice.

These Analysts positions are fixed term for 12 months.
In these roles, you'll have the opportunity to contribute to the longer-term success of the Commission. We are looking for 5 people to help us ensure that input from the public is appropriately considered and factored into the Commission's advice on the second Emissions Reduction Plan, 2050 emissions reduction target and 5-yearly emissions budgets.

**Considering input and evidence from the public requires**:

- collating and organising a potentially large volume of material
- understanding that material, identifying important themes and summarising that material
- working with analysts across the Commission to ensure that input and evidence is factored into the Commission's advice.

**Mō ēnei tūranga mahi | These role will involve**:

- Analysing public submissions
- Organising and collating information
- Ability to write clearly and concisely
- Ability to identify key themes
- Working with a team
- Planning and reporting on team activities

**Ō pūmanawa | About you**:

- This role would suit someone early in their career, or someone looking for a fresh start and an interest in climate change action
- A relevant tertiary qualification
- Familiarity with the work of the Climate Change Commission is desirable, but not essential
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Good organisational and time management skills
- A basic understanding of government processes, systems, and tools, is desirable but not mandatory

Recognising Te Ao Māori is a key priority for the Commission. This means we work with the Crown's Treaty partner and grow our capability and capacity to accurately reflect Māori views and Te Tiriti o Waitangi in our work.

**Tono ināianei | How to Apply**:
