**Te** **kōwhiringa | The Opportunity**

In this role, you will be required to supervise laboratory activities to meet business and customer expectations.

As the Senior Laboratory Technician, you will maximise the effective use of laboratory resources and ensure the laboratories are managed to the standard required by IANZ registration and company ISO 17025, 9001 + 14001.

**Nga pūkenga matua | Important Skills**

To be successful in this challenging yet rewarding role, you will have a relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent experience, a proven experience of managing delivery of technical services in a commercial environment, or several years' experience in the contracting industry/laboratory environment in the testing of either, binders, aggregate, soils or asphalt.

Excellent attention to detail, problem-solving and communication skills will serve you well in this role.

In addition, you will also have:

- Strong problem-solving skills
- The ability to develop productivity, quality and safety targets and objectives in conjunction with the Laboratory Managers.
- Ensure laboratory is managed to ISO 17025 regulations including IANZ accredited signatory.
- Ensure materials are tested to relevant registered methods, ensuring specifications in manuals are current.
- Complete and maintain all duties associated with daily work activities.
- Ensure IANZ audits are closed out and documents returned in a timely manner to IANZ.
- Relationship management skills to supervise, coach and assist laboratory technicians to achieve their targets and improve their competency.
- Support a culture that supports and maintains zero harm, environmental and sustainability practice, and management.
- Ensure that laboratory and nominated staff are trained in appropriate laboratory procedures.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
