The Commission is going through an exciting period of growth, driven by increases in its functions, duties and powers, and supported by additional Government funding.
We are looking for a Principal Investigator to join our Fair Trading team and provide strategic and technical investigative expertise, as well as management of a team of investigators and their programmes of work. This is a permanent role based in our Te Whanganui-a-Tara (Wellington) office.

You and your team will be focused on securing businesses' compliance with the Fair Trading Act, through engagement and education, investigations and enforcement. Our investigations typically involve analysis of conduct and documentary evidence, interviews of witnesses, investigated persons and companies, to find out whether laws have been broken.

A seasoned Investigator, you'll be known for your sharp analysis and thorough investigation experience. You'll be an engaged leader who role models adaptability and resilience, and can relate to people from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
Ideally, you'll also be
- passionate about consumer law
- confident and skilled at undertaking analysis and investigations
- a skilled communicator - comfortable with presenting and confident at interviewing
- skilled at assisting in the preparation of clear and concise written reports
- excellent at time management - able to prioritise your workload and successfully juggle multiple projects
- interested in coaching and mentoring team members.

A relevant tertiary qualification in an analytical discipline is an advantage.
