About the role | Mō te tūnga We have a vacancy for an Advisor to join the Crown Entity Monitoring and Appointments team and help us support better housing and urban development outcomes for New Zealanders. This role offers the opportunity to develop your skills and experience in providing advice on the performance of complex, high-profile entities in a supportive and collaborative team environment. Reporting to the Manager Crown Entity Monitoring and Appointments, the Advisor will join a Principal and Senior Advisor. Our team monitors and supports the housing sector Crown entities, Kāinga Ora and Tāmaki Redevelopment Company. We support Ministers and entities to identify and manage critical risks and challenges, and we give Ministers independent advice on entity performance. We take a partnership approach to working with teams across the Ministry, as well as our entities and stakeholders. The Advisor will support engagement, analysis and advice on performance, risk, and governance and appointments. This includes supporting Principal and Senior Advisors in drafting advice and assisting with their engagement with the boards and staff of the Crown entities. The Advisor is also responsible for:

- supporting monitoring activities and communication with Crown entities
- drafting advice to Ministers on Crown entity accountability documents (such as Annual Reports, Statements of Intent and Performance Expectations, and Letters of Expectations)
- contributing to advice on assurance and performance of core business activities, business improvement initiatives, and the organisational health of Crown entities
- assisting with appointments and governance advice and processes, eg in relation to board succession planning, position specifications, and Cabinet documentation
- developing relationships with Crown entities, stakeholders, and other Ministry teams
- OIAs, PQs, Ministerials
- contributing to team and Ministry strategy, planning, and work programmes.

About you | Mōu You should have the ability to quickly build rapport and credibility and maintain good relationships. In addition you will have:

- an understanding and willingness to develop further expertise in processes relating to financial and commercial governance and public sector board appointments
- good communication skills, both written and oral
- experience or a tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline
- the ability to multitask, reprioritise and work with others to meet tight deadlines
- proficiency with MS Office Suite.
