**ABOUT US / **MŌ MĀTOU**

At Ko Taku Reo we work to nurture the social and emotional wellbeing of New Zealand’s Deaf and hard of hearing children and help them form their own identity; as well as providing support and resources to help them reach their academic potential. You will be joining a nationwide team and you will share their passion and enthusiasm for delivering high quality education and services to Deaf and hard of hearing students and their whānau we support.

**THE ROLE / **TE MAHI**

We are seeking a permanent, full-time Educational Interpreter to work with and support our learners and teaching team at Ormiston Junior College. The successful applicant will be required to interpret and translate in and around the educational setting ensuring that the student/s are able to understand, fully participate and achieve. Ability to adapt to the style of teaching as well as the needs and language level of the learner is essential to this role.

**ABOUT YOU / **MŌ KOE**

Prerequisites to be successful in this role are:

- Approved qualifications in New Zealand Sign Language and interpreter training
- Previous experience working in educational settings, sign language resource development and translations services, would be preferred, but is not essential
- A current drivers licence
- Highly motivated, flexible, and capable of managing one's own workload
- Understanding and respect of Deaf culture
- Desire to focus on the needs of learners
- Flexible and able to adapt to a variety of situations and needs
