**Mō tēnei tūranga | About this role**

The Sensitive Claims Māori team is a newly established team within the wider sensitive claims team, which runs the dispute resolution process to support the resolution of abuse claims lodged against the Ministry.

This new team will have a particular focus on providing a pathway for Māori claimants and their whānau that is grounded in ngā ahuatanga o Rongo.

The Advisor supports this process by leading the discovery phase of the claims process. This includes, researching and gathering relevant information, preparing responses to information requests and other related activities.

Advisors will also work alongside external experts to support the development and delivery of the pathway for Māori claimants.

We are looking for people to join the team who understand the values of tika, pono and aroha.

This is a great opportunity for graduates or someone looking to utilise their passion for research. You will get to do some meaningful mahi while learning how the Machinery of Government works. Key to this role is the ability to work with sensitive materials and information and supporting claimants and their whānau to discover what information is available to support their claims.

You will need to be open to learning new things, have compassion, empathy and sensitivity, while also having a real drive to ensure no stone is left unturned.

The salary band for this role is $67,859 - $83,939 depending on skills and experience of the applicant.

To be successful in this role you will also offer the following:

- The ability to maintain and contribute to a supportive team environment.
- Works in a way that deals with conflict or issues in a respectful way that maintains the mana of those involved.
- Experience coordinating or supporting wānanga and external hui.
- Experience collating research and undertaking information requests.
- Proficiency in te Reo Māori (desirable)
- Good understanding of te ao Māori and tikanga Māori.
- Works collaboratively with colleagues.
- Experience searching various databases online and in person.
- Manages difficult and sensitive information with respect and aroha.
- Works to ensure an efficient process can be delivered.
- An understanding of the Official Information Act 1982 and Privacy Act 1993.
- The ability to maintaining electronic and hard copy filing systems.
