About the role
Do you have a background in the management of large vehicle fleets? If so, this position may be for you.

Fleet is an exciting and challenging area to work in - it is one of the most dynamic and interesting areas of our organisation, which helps provide and service one of the country’s largest vehicle fleets with over 3500 vehicles.

This is a busy and varied role where no two days are the same. As the Manger - Fleet Technical, you will be part of an active team that ensures NZ Police vehicles all meet operational and safety requirements through developing and maintaining national oversight of vehicles specifications, fitouts and testing of vehicles and associated fleet equipment.

**Key Accountabilities**:

- Development and continuous improvement work for NZP fleet assets
- Research, build and maintain currency and credibility as an expert advisor on fleet technical and safety standards and technologies
- Lead improvements in technical and safety standards of fleet assets/equipment
- Develop and maintain key internal and external fleet partnerships
- Lead testing and evaluate criteria for new vehicle models and fleet equipment
- Lead investigations into incidents and accidents involving fleet assets as required
- Provide appropriate responses to requests for fleet information, or complaints

**Other skills knowledge and experience will include**:

- Experience in team leadership in a corporate setting where prioritisation and delegation is key to meet deadlines
- Open, honest and constructive communication
- The ability to advise on the procurement and management of new fleet vehicles and equipment, and their whole-of-life technical support
- Strong expertise in managing fleet vehicles and equipment against relevant policies, legislation and standards e.g. Police Instructions, warranties
- Sound skills in analysing and utilising complex technical data, to enable fleet and supply chain reporting and to develop effective improvements
- Effective relationship management and communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate technical information
- An ability to review and constructively feedback on reports, and documentation for test evaluations, recommendations, and vehicle requirements.
- An ability and willingness to travel as and when required.

This role is set at Strategic Leader level, this means your key purpose is “To lead the strategy, Our Business and enable our people to deliver it”.

We will ask you questions based on “How we will deliver Our Business - Core Competencies” and the appropriate role level, i.e. Strategic Leader.

Remuneration upon appointment to the role will be starting from $133,936 - $148,818
