About the role

Fleet is an exciting and challenging area to work in - it is one of the most dynamic and interesting areas of our organisation, which helps provide and service one of the country’s largest vehicle fleets with over 3500 vehicles.
The Manager - Fleet Investment and Delivery is the hub where strategies are created and purchasing decisions are actioned. The role collaborates with the Fleet Technical Manager, the team, and the business to make sound investment decisions.
This role is responsible for delivering project initiatives including the annual vehicle replacement programme. As such, you will have a high level of autonomy in investment planning and oversight of projects.
Your team is the “front of house” for the Fleet Group, triaging queries and providing advice to the business, suppliers, and external entities, as well as providing the administrative support for the fleet team and delivering project initiatives.
This is a busy and varied role where no two days are the same, you will be part of an active team that ensures NZ Police vehicles all meet operational and safety requirements through collaborating with the technical delivery arm.

**Key Accountabilities**:

- Leads the planning of all initiatives (including cost, scope, time, and quality requirements), determines resource requirements, develops programme schedules and budgets and identifies dependencies for delivery.
- Remains responsible for managing approved capital and operating programme budgets. (Budgets typically up to $100m).
- Identifies and analyses change management impacts and options and works collaboratively with groups that are implementing programmes to ensure that programme objectives are met.
- Develop and maintain key internal and external fleet partnerships.
- Maintains Police’s Fleet Policies and Procedures to ensure adherence and alignment with Government Policy/direction and reflecting industry best practice.
- Represents Fleet Services at Governance and Executive Meetings as required.
- Monitoring existing contracts, identifying risks and opportunities, and implementing improvement programmes within Police and with our Business Partners to achieve a strong value for money service. Work in conjunction with the Fleet Service Manager to prepare and administer the division’s annual open budget and monitor expenditures.
- Supports and participates in the development and maintenance of a high performing team.

- Sound skills in analysing and utilising complex technical data, to enable fleet and supply chain reporting and to develop effective improvements.
- Effective relationship management and communication skills, including the ability to lead and develop yourself and your team.
- An ability to interpret and produce effective reports, and documentation.
- An ability and willingness to travel as and when required.
