Digital Communications Advisor - Communications Team

The Chief Ombudsman works with his staff to help New Zealanders in their dealings with government agencies. The focus is on handling complaints against government agencies, undertaking investigations and inspections, and encouraging good administration. The Chief Ombudsman is independent and impartial, with the goal of fairness for all.
Mō tō mātou tira - About the team
The Communications Team provide advice and support across all of the Chief Ombudsman's work to meet internal and external audiences' communication needs. Over the past 12 months the Chief Ombudsman's mandate has grown significantly and as a result so has the work of the Communications Team.
Mō te tūranga - About the role
The role of the Digital Communications Advisor is to work with Senior Digital Communications Advisor and Manager Communications to deliver and develop digital resources to support the Chief Ombudsman's strategic intentions. You will use your creativity and sharpened communications skills to prepare stories and innovative content particularly for internal audiences through our intranet.
You'll make sure the content meets the Chief Ombudsman's guidelines and standards for brand, style, accessibility and usability. You'll also make sure the content is optimised for external and internal search engines.
You will also be working to build our external audiences, particularly children, young people, Māori, and Pasifika. The emphasis will be on using digital platforms to build awareness and inspire meaningful engagement with high priority communities.
He kōrero mōu - About you
To be successful in this role ideally have the following competencies:

- Relevant tertiary qualification and/or the equivalent work experience in a Communications environment.
- Experience in a range of content management systems, particularly Drupal.
- Experience building targeted content for specific audiences to build internal and external engagement.
- Experience working with different business portfolios to translate technical/complex information into easy to understand (and findable) information.
- Experience in creating content for children, young people, Māori, or Pasifika to build engagement and awareness.
- Experience working with a range of social media platforms, publishing and analytics tools, including Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn, Instagram and Google Analytics.
- Ability to present digital information (strategy or analytics) to a group in an easily understood format with high levels of accuracy.
- Cultural awareness, including knowledge of the Treaty of Waitangi and Te Reo Māori or willingness to learn.

Depending on skills and experience the starting salary is expected to be between $70,011 to $87,514.
