As a lifeline utility with over 900 employees and an extended Service Provider whānau of more than 3,000, we are pivotal in delivering critical infrastructure nationwide.
As demand for electrification accelerates to meet climate goals, our workforce - and that of our Service Providers - must scale significantly. By 2030, we anticipate a 60-100% increase in the service providers required to maintain and develop the National Grid.
To support this growth, the Sector Workforce Development Group, part of our People Division, is committed to defining, developing, and delivering top-tier vocational training programmes that ensure our people and those who work with us possess the skills and capability to undertake their roles effectively and safety. The group also plays a key role in promoting transmission sector jobs and career pathways to support growth.
