**About the Role**

The Cancer Nurse Coordinator aims to improve the experience for patients and their family/whanau with a suspected or confirmed cancer diagnosis. Care coordination is the key function of this role to ensure patients are well-informed and have timely access to health care services for their cancer treatment.

**About the Team**

The Gynaecology Oncology team are an incredibly hard working and kind team that strive on putting patients and their whanau at the centre of their care. You will work closely with our Gynaecology Oncology SMOs, Fellows, Registrars, Administrators, Clinical Nurse Specialist, Nurses and the other Cancer Nurse Coordinator to provide care for wahine accessing our service.

The Gynaecology Oncology team support the whole South Island for gynaecology oncology care and this year has also started supporting the lower North Island service too. This role is to support the increased demand in the service and has the potential to grow alongside the service as demand continues to increase. When working in the Gynaecology Oncology Service you will be rewarded with a great nursing environment and the opportunity to expand your skills and experience.

**About You**

You will be a key contact for the patients and their family/whanau as well as health professionals, in navigating the health services to ensure efficient, appropriate, and timely care is delivered.

This challenging and demanding role will see you working closely and collaboratively with all members of the health care team including care coordinators from around New Zealand, primary, secondary, and tertiary health providers.

You should have a minimum of 3 years in a cancer, gynaecology or surgical specialty area, knowledge of regional and national standards in relation to cancer care, ability in clinical case co-ordination, be computer literate, able to function collaboratively and autonomously and have excellent proven communication and interpersonal skills. Thorough knowledge of health systems is an advantage.
