Te Mahi/About the Position

We have a 0.8FTE permanent position available, working across a seven-day roster, as part of our specialist palliative care service. The palliative care specialist nurse (PCSN) is a senior nursing role. The position works in conjunction with the Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS), who provides additional consultancy on specialist palliative advice and support.

The focus is to develop collaborative partnerships with aged care facility staff, by providing clinical assessment for residents with complex palliative care needs, and clinical teaching, advocacy, coaching and liaison with staff. This approach ensures the physical, social, emotional, and spiritual elements of wellbeing are met holistically - tinana, whānau, hinengaro and wairua.

The PCSN position works collaboratively with the integrated specialist palliative care team, general practice teams, and community services to build and sustain strong professional relationships for the aged care sector.

Alongside this, an ability to build strong clinical networks and maintain excellent relationships across the aged care and community sector.

If you have 4 years post-registration nursing practice, with expanding knowledge in palliative care, experience working in the community and/or aged care, looking towards a post graduate qualification, an interest in clinical teaching, and a full driver license you may be who we are looking for.
