**The Opportunity**:
Te Tāhuhu o te Mātauranga (Ministry of Education) are building on and establishing a team that is going to help deliver the future state of the education system in Aotearoa New Zealand, outside of the core curriculum. The programmes will be getting close to the front line of education - getting into the schools right across the country. It's our priority to understand our users - teachers and school employees, what’s working well and the challenges they face to design new or augment existing service lines, and deliver better education outcomes for Aotearoa New Zealand.

Te Pou Ohumahi Mātauranga | Education Workforce group was created in October 2021 and now comprises Payroll, Employment Relations, Education Workforce Supply and Leadership, and the newly established Service Design and Implementation Group. There have been many changes, advances and challenges since then, and now there is an opportunity to join the incredibly passionate Service Design team that is responsible for leading this mahi (work) to influence, shape and embed the next phase of this meaningful journey.

As our Chief Advisor of Service Design, you'll play a pivotal role in transforming education workforce services from the ground up.

The Chief Advisor, Service Design requires a deep understanding of user-centered design principles, exceptional project management skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams. You’ll be responsible for guiding the design process, facilitating collaboration and ensuring the successful delivery of service design solutions that enhance the experience of the education workforce towards achieving positive and equitable outcomes for ākonga. We're committed to crafting a culture where every decision is centered around our users.

**As the Chief Advisor - Service Design you will**: Lead the development of service design strategies and frameworks that enhance customer satisfaction, drive business growth, and improve operational efficiency.
- Develop and manage the design approach, project plans, manage resources and establish design milestones and deliverables.Lead the ideation and co-creation of innovative service design solutions, and ensure alignment with user needs, business goals, and technical feasibility.Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including product owners, SMEs, developers, marketers, peak bodies, other government agencies or suppliers and Te Mahau to integrate service design principles and deliver cohesive and seamless experiences.Work with the team to develop service blueprints, process maps, and other design artifacts to visualize and communicate the proposed service experiences.

**The Fit**: Expertise in digital design, including user interface (UI) design or user experience (UX) design, interaction design, and information architecture.

You will have the ability to effectively engage and collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders at all levels, to achieve shared results, as well as strong written and oral communication skills and ability to adjust style to the needs of the audience.

You have great creative thinking skills, with the ability to approach challenges with a design thinking mindset and a keen ability to generate and evaluate innovative ideas and solutions.

Additionally, you possess strong project management skills, including experience leading and delivering service design projects, and you’re able to take a strategic focus on issues, and understand them within a wider business context. You must be able to prepare and implement strategic communications plans that meet clients’ strategic and tactical business needs.
