**Are you Hamilton City Council’s next Network Operations Engineer?**
The purpose of the Three Waters Unit is to make a difference by protecting the health of our community and the environment whilst ensuring a safe, sustainable future for our families. We do this by managing the provision of Water, Stormwater and Wastewater services for Hamilton.

Our Three Waters Network Operations team are looking for an experienced Network Operations Engineer. You will join a vibrant team of professionals which currently includes three Network Operations Engineers. The team have a diverse range of experience and work very well together, sharing knowledge and experience to ensure the best outcomes for the customer.

**What does a day in this job look like?**
Monitoring SCADA screens you will be responsible for monitoring the water and wastewater network and the effective operation of the stormwater network for Hamilton City. There is a large customer focus within this role, you will receive service requests from the public and undertake operational investigations incorporating root cause and effect analysis while identifying restorative and preventative measures. Excellent customer service delivery is expected in this role.

As an experienced Operations Engineer you have great problem-solving skills and the ability to work autonomously or as part of a team on projects. You are calm under pressure and understand the importance of listening to others. You have a collaborative working style ensuring you add to what is already a well-functioning team.

**For this role you must have**:

- A tertiary qualification within Engineering (Civil Engineering would be an advantage).
- Ideally a minimum of 5 years’ experience with three-waters networks.
- A good understanding of municipal engineering and plumbing practices.
- Experience investigating, detecting and resolving defects.
- A working knowledge of relevant legislation associated with the water, wastewater and storm water.

Example; Our wastewater system alone has 128 sewer pump stations, approx. 849 kilometres of pipes and approx. 53,000 connections. Our drinking water system has over 1000 kilometres of pipes and eight reservoirs which can hold about 90,000,000L.

Every day has variety as every issue is different, you will work with plant and be out and about in the local community. You may currently be working at a water or wastewater treatment plant and thinking about your next career move.

**What’s the salary?**
We are looking to appoint a person on a salary up to $87,392 dependent on skills and experience. Please note that the role may also include an on-call component.
