We created a new role last year for a Head of Strategic Contracting & Procurement to introduce an enterprise-wide strategic focus across C&P. Initially, we wanted the role to act like a consultant, assessing our C&P maturity and ability before making a recommendation on how to manage over the longer term. That upfront mahi has been done and found what we knew would be the case**:we need change.** As part of our Procurement transformation, we’ve created seven** **new roles, including this one as Purchasing and Inventory Manager.

**Job Description**:
**Kōrero mō te tūranga | About the role***

The Purchasing and Inventory team will deliver all our day-to-day buying needs and make sure our stores and inventory levels are optimised. Alongside their leadership, coaching and mentoring, you’ll optimise the user of our SAP MM MRP across all Contact sites, build relationships across the business to get a deep understanding of our internal customer requirements, leverage our buying power to maximise value for money, identify stock optimisation opportunities, keep our investment in inventory working capital low, own and maintain our supply chain data, and ensure what we buy is aligned with our customer expectations.

We have a humming Purchasing and Inventory team of three already (two Coordinators in Stratford and Wairakei and a Storeperson in Wairakei) and will soon have two more (Buyers). Together, you have a huge opportunity to create savings, improve our procurement maturity, coordinate purchasing and inventory across all business units and locations, and ultimately make Contact better. That’s not just great for us - with the mahi we’re doing to decarbonise and leave the planet better than we found it, **it’s great for Aotearoa.**

**Qualifications**:
**Ko wai koe | About you**

An SAP MM super user, you’ve had many years of purchasing experience (ideally in a medium to large organisation), at least a bit of inventory leadership experience, and are ready now to step into a role that lets you do what you do best **your way.**

Utterly human centric in the way you mahi, you have superb leadership and communication skills and are more than comfortable meeting with people to collaborate and negotiate. You’re proficient in sourcing software like Ariba or Coupa and have led a team before, ideally within Maintenance, Repairs & Operation industries like Automotive, Energy, Heavy Industry, or Oil & Gas. (At the very least, you need to understand what a flange / bearing / valve etc is.)

You’ll also need a deep understanding of the New Zealand market.
