Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity
Join the Commissioning Senior Leadership team at a time of key change as National Clinical Director, Primary and Community Care. You will serve the commissioning teams whose primary mahi is the oversight of $8 billion of primary and community care services as well as the transformation of the way we commission health services across the key life span areas of Starting Well, Living Well, Mentally Well and Ageing Well.
With a focus on ensuring nationally consistent models of care and equity outcomes, the Clinical Director will support the System Design Team to engage effectively across Hospital and Specialist Services and the primary care sector. As a leader and influencer, the Director will be pivotal in ensuring providers in the health system, whether hospital or community-based, function as a single, integrated system.
Reporting directly to the National Director Commissioning, this role will see you work closely with Te Aka Whai Ora and the other Delivery teams within Te Whatu Ora. This role will also be a senior member of the overall Clinical Leadership Team of Te Whatu Ora, through a strong dotted line connection to the Chief Clinical Officer.
The Clinical Director will partner with with clinical leaders across Te Whatu Ora and Te Aka Whai Ora, hold critical relationships with key sector clinical groups and internal clinical leaders, and support the Commissioning team to design and guide improvements that address equity, quality and patient safety outcomes.
Leading and influencing, this role will have a vital part to play in whole-of-system clinical governance assurance processes. As part of transforming the commissioning of Primary and Community Care, four Regional Clinical Director roles will be established. These roles are proposed to have a dotted reporting lines to the National Clinical Director.
Mōu | About you
You are a confident strategic and clinical leader, whose career has seen you spend at least five years of clinical practice in Aotearoa's public health system, including time in a clinical system leadership role.
You will bring a deep understanding of how the health sector operates, including an ‘on the ground' perspective. You know how to use your strategic clinical expertise to drive clinical change, and can bring the tools needed to co-design system change using person-centred design principles.

**You will have**:

- Competency with te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori or a willingness to learn and grow
- Relevant tertiary Medical, Nursing or Allied health qualification
- Current Vocational Registration
- Senior Leadership experience, including as a change leader in large and complex organisations
- Highly developed negotiation skills, acting with wisdom and seeking to unify rather than divide stakeholders
- Ample evidence of your previous successes in establishing and nurturing relationships and in influencing colleagues to change
