**Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity**
The National Public Health Service (NPHS) within Te Whatu Ora, work towards Pae Ora (healthy futures) for all by engaging with the wider determinants that impact people's health, focusing on oranga/wellbeing, prevention, protection, and population-level intervention. We are connected across boundaries to deliver public health services that are nationally planned, regionally delivered and locally tailored.
We have the opportunity available to join our National Public Health Service in a senior clinical role as **Chief Clinical Officer NPHS. **The purpose of the role is to:
- Lead quality governance across NPHS. This includes working in partnership to develop a quality governance framework,
- To implement and maintain the elements of a quality system to ensure high quality public health work across NPHS,
- Provide senior clinical leadership in public health across the NPHS, and
- Provide advice to the National Director of NPHS and provide support to the Director of Public Health including oversight of public health activities and upholding the standards required of statutory officers.
The role reports to the Deputy National Director as a formal line reporting relationship. However, the seniority of the role also means that you will be part of the NPHS Leadership Team (LT) and provide clinical advice to the National Director. In addition, the role will have a dotted-line relationship to the Director of Public Health role that sits in the Public Health Agency (Manatū Hauora).
At **0.4 - 0.5 FTE**, the role is expected to be combined with another senior clinical or management role within the NPHS. There are a significant number of senior clinical leadership roles within the National Public Health Service, and there is an expectation that this role will lead and delegate appropriately to this leadership group.
**Mōu | About you**
You are able to provide evidence-informed, trusted public health and system leadership whilst representing the National Public Health Service within Te Whatu Ora's organisation wide clinical leadership structure. You will model and uphold cultural safety, including critical consciousness and reflective practices, as a core tenet of safe practice. Able to build collaborative and highly effective networks of influence with staff across NPHS, Te Whatu Ora and with stakeholders, building trust and confidence.
**Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and experience**
- Registered health professional, with 10+ years experience working in public health
- Postgraduate qualification in public health
- Current registration in relevant public health professional discipline and current Annual Practicing Certificate
- Proven experience in Public Health clinical leadership and people leadership (minimum 3 years in previous leadership roles), including leading leaders and other senior staff through innovation and lifting performance of a team/unit
- Experience in leading change and service and quality improvement initiatives
- Media experience, including as a spokesperson on high profile topics
- Experience in developing professional frameworks and quality governance systems
- Able to** **lead a culture of continuous improvement, innovation and excellence in public health practice, especially to drive equitable outcomes
