**Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity**
At this pivotal time in Aotearoa's Health Sector, we are seeking an experienced leader charged with leading a transformational programme of work that provides strategic and operational support and advice to the National Director, to support the successful operation of Hospital & Specialist Services. They will have collective accountability for maintaining and enhancing Hospital and Specialist Services and implement supporting Te Whatu Ora priorities. The Director Office of the National Director is a vital member of the Hospital and Specialist Services Senior Leadership team within Te Whatu Ora and will engage with a diverse and influential range of stakeholders at a senior level within Te Whatu Ora, Te Aka Whai Ora and across the New Zealand health system
The Director will provide trusted and respected leadership through an inspirational leadership style that enables a new, nationally distributed group to work “as one” and supporting Te Whatu Ora's strategic priorities. In this role, you will build and maintain effective relationships across H&SS by providing calm and approachable support for the successful resolution of day-to-day issues, and an escalation point as appropriate.

- Proven experience successfully leading clinical teams through change and achieving improved results while navigating a highly nuanced and complex system
- Experience managing clinical variation to improve outcomes for patients and whānau.
- The ability to lead change across the health sector with experience working across boundaries, inter-agency, inter-professionally inter-sectorial.
- Can demonstrate they have given meaningful effect to the expectations outlined in Te Tiriti o Waitangi in their position(s)/at a leadership level.
- Has proven experience in programme management, experience with ministerial, Board and executive level engagement, presentation, reporting and facilitation and can demonstrate experience providing leadership and senior expertise to inform future decision making for work programmes that best support the delivery of the acute care priorities.
