**Mo te turanga | About the role**
We are looking for an Analyst to join our Telecommunications team which sits within our Market Regulation branch. This is a perfect opportunity for someone with a sharp mind and enthusiasm to contribute to the work of the Commission and make a difference for New Zealanders. This is a permanent opportunity in our Tamaki Makaurau or Te Whanganui-a-Tara office.
Our Telecommunications team is responsible for monitoring and enforcing the Telecommunications Act 2001, which regulates the supply of certain telecommunications services. The purpose of this regulation is to promote competition in broadband and mobile markets for the long-term benefit of end-users within New Zealand. This is a dynamic, interesting, and fast-changing industry to be a part of.
As an Analyst you will:
- Gather and critically analyse market data, identify key issues, draw logical conclusions, and communicate these to our decision makers
- Engage with industry participants to understand market dynamics
- Develop a strong understanding of industry trends and factors impacting the market
**He korero mou | About you**
Our people come from a variety of backgrounds and life experiences which together support the fabric of our mahi and contributes to our vision to make New Zealanders better off.
You'll be proactive, collaborative, and solutions-focused and be able to analyse different sources of information, generate insight, and communicate clearly. You will be inquisitive with sound critical thinking skills and be comfortable presenting your work.
It would be beneficial, but not essential, if you have worked in market research, in a regulatory or policy role, or in Telecommunications or a similar industry.
If you have a selection of the following skills and attributes, you could make a great Analyst:
- Desire to improve broadband and mobile services for New Zealand consumers
- Experience in generating insight from consumer research or market analysis
- The ability to prioritise, focus on high-value outputs, and resolve challenging problems
- The ability to create clear and concise presentations and written reports
- Confidence with analysing and reporting on survey or market data
- Regulatory experience, either direct or through having worked in a regulated industry
- Desire to learn and work within economic and legal frameworks.
A university degree in a relevant field (e.g. marketing, commerce or science) would be an advantage but is not essential.
**Te wahi mahi | Working here**
We're friendly and collaborative and enjoy contributing to our shared vision of making New Zealanders better off and are committed to our people's wellbeing. Our flexible working options are key to supporting that goal and our people have the technology they need to make it happen. Our environment is inclusive, and our people know they are free to be their authentic selves at work and structure the way they work to suit their lifestyle.
