We're looking for a new technical analyst to join our multi-disciplinary team to support the operation and maintenance of key software and data flow systems in support of the intelligence mission. Timely, insightful intelligence is essential to protecting New Zealand's sovereignty, prosperity and safety. You'll be working with problems and technologies you can't find anywhere else, alongside a committed and talented group of colleagues.

Our team is responsible for the design, implementation and operation of sensitive capabilities that enable analysts to make the most of the data we have available. We use sensitive processes, capable hardware, and smart people to reveal intelligence from data.

**To be successful in this role you should**:

- Have a relevant degree and/or experience with an analytical or technical focus, such as computer science, engineering, telecommunications or mathematics
- Have experience using scripting languages (e.g. bash, python, etc.) and the linux terminal

**You'll also be familiar with**:

- Stages of software development, from requirement gathering and prototyping through to deploying production systems
- Software development processes, including Agile/Scrum, test driven development, use of version control, etc.
- DevOps principles and techniques, including CI/CD
- Containerisation technologies, (e.g. Docker)
- Databases (e.g. SQL, ElasticSearch, etc.)
- Monitoring software and metrics (e.g. Splunk, Grafana, etc.)

**Typical work might include**:

- Daily monitoring and maintenance of key systems and infrastructure
- Identifying issues, troubleshooting potential causes and suggesting possible fixes
- Communicating with internal and external customers to address issues, clarify requirements, and notify them of any updates
- Becoming familiar with existing manual processes and looking for opportunities to automate
- Maintaining professional relationships with colleagues in domestic and international partner agencies
- Writing meaningful and detailed documentation
