**About the role**
As a Lighting Designer, you will play a crucial role in our creative process, collaborating with clients and end users to bring their vision to life through exceptional lighting designs. Your attention to detail, technical expertise, and artistic flair will be instrumental in creating stunning lighting concepts that enhance and elevate each project.
This role will see you contributing to the fast-paced and dynamic Lighting discipline within the wider Design and Engineering Team, delivering exciting and innovative projects. Our goal is to harness the passion of our people, developing talent to keep our customers ahead of the curve. From concept design through to commissioning, you will have the opportunity to contribute to a variety of projects, utilising your ability to design from scratch while also delivering efficiency through adaptive design, building upon proven solutions.
Contributing to design quality and inherent safety by:
- Developing lighting concepts, designs for Category V and Category P roading projects, including commercial lighting environments (e.g. interior lighting, feature lighting, sports lighting etc), ensuring compliance with technical requirements and regulations.
- Collaborate with clients to understand their lighting needs and design objectives, ensuring their vision is brought to life.
- Create detailed lighting plans, including fixture selection, placement, and control systems, to achieve optimal visual impact.
- Conduct on-site visits to evaluate lighting conditions, make adjustments, and provide expert recommendations.
- Stay updated with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in lighting design to deliver cutting-edge solutions to clients.
- Cultivate and maintain a robust network of industry professionals, including architects, interior designers, contractors, and suppliers, to foster collaboration and generate new business opportunities.
- Represent the company at industry events, trade shows, and conferences, leveraging networking opportunities to expand the client base.
- Provide exceptional customer service throughout the design and installation process, ensuring client satisfaction and fostering long-term relationships.
**Skills /Experience**
**Essential**:
- Graduate Certificate in Science and Technology (Lighting) or equivalent recognised qualification
- Proven experience in lighting design, including conceptualization, planning, and implementation.
- Strong knowledge of lighting principles, colour theory, and lighting control systems.
- Proficiency in industry-standard design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Dialux, AGI32) and familiarity with lighting calculation tools.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with clients and stakeholders.
- Exceptional networking abilities to establish and expand a strong professional network.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to multitask and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. A portfolio showcasing previous lighting design projects and demonstrating creativity and technical proficiency.
- A current and valid Driver’s Licence
**Desirable**:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (Building services), Architecture, Interior Design, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
- Familiar with Autodesk Revit
- Familiar with any other visualisation tools (e.g. Autodesk 3DS max)
- Familiar with MS Office suite
