- Working toward or completed of a degree in natural, physical or environmental sciences or related discipline.
- Excellent communication skills - written and verbal.
- Understanding of Te Ao Māori world view and the associated values and principals.
- High level of computer skills including Microsoft products.
- Strong customer focus with a positive “can-do” attitude.
- Positive interpersonal, relationship management, and networking skills.
- Physically fit: able to work full days undertaking field work.
- Full NZ drivers’ licence.
**Mō te turanga | About the role**
- The job is a mix of office and field-based work.
- Catchment staff working in the Lake Taupo Catchment.
- Based in the Waikato Regional Council Taupo Office.
- Full time position, starting mid-November 2025 and ending 20/02/2026.
- A willingness to work with landowners, stakeholders, community groups and Iwi.
- Have an interest in working in different locations around a beautiful region.
- An affiliation to Tuwharetoa is desirable but not necessary.
- Assist the Taupo Catchment Management team with environmental plans for soil, nutrient and water in collaboration with community groups, iwi and stakeholders.
- Develop and implement maintenance programmes/agreements with landowners to maintain catchment management works (fencing, planting and erosion control structures) within the Lake Taupo Zone Catchment.
