**Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity**
The National Public Health Service (NPHS) within Te Whatu Ora, works towards Pae Ora (healthy futures) for all by engaging with the wider determinants that impact people's health, focusing on oranga/wellbeing, prevention, protection, and population-level intervention. We are connected across boundaries to deliver public health services that are nationally planned, regionally delivered and locally tailored.
The Major Projects team within the Protection Directorate will be leading a series of projects the aim to bring together and support health protection services across the new National Public Health Service. This will initially involve both establishing unifying technology and aligning our ways of working in partnership with our stakeholders to implement nationally planned, regionally delivered and locally tailored services.
- Understanding the requirements of existing and upcoming work and scoping these for delivery by technical and non-technical teams
- Working together with Project Managers to understand priorities and considerations for inflight and upcoming work.
- The point of contact for plain language explanations of technical concepts to non-technical teams
- Ensuring that our delivery teams have a sound understanding of how the products can best serve our customers' needs

You have proven experience in leading work programmes and coordinating with other. You're able to think, plan, and contribute strategically and to connect with people to build an engaged and productive workforce. You have an understanding of kawa and tikanga and a commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi & some experience working in partnership with iwi & Māori communities. **Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and experience**
- Proven analysis and requirements gathering experience.
- Strong planning and prioritisation background.
- Extensive understanding of the public health work experience ideally supported with professional qualifications -- 10 years.
- Experience working with both Agile and Traditional Project Management Methodologies.
- A background working with both technology and business focused teams.
- A deep understanding of the New Zealand healthcare sector, including knowledge of healthcare processes, regulations, and challenges, ideally in the public health space.
- Understanding of, and commitment to, the specific relationship under te Tiriti o Waitangi, and Te Whatu Ora's role in improving outcomes for iwi and Māori communities.
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills with the ability to adapt technical information for different end users.
- Excellent relationships skills and have the knowledge and experience to work with a wide range of people.
- Understanding of kawa and tikanga and a commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi & some experience working in partnership with iwi & Māori communities.
- Understanding & experience working in partnership with Pacific communities.
