Opportunity for an experienced General Practitioner to provide clinical leadership within the Ministry of Health
You will be responsible for providing clinical leadership and strategic professional advice across the Ministry's priorities and work programmes
Part-time (0.6 FTE) permanent role or 12-month secondment opportunity
We are looking for an experienced General Practice/Primary Care Doctor to provide senior technical expertise and advice to inform future decision making for work programmes that best support the delivery of the Government's and Ministry priorities and objectives.
**Mō tō mātou rōpū - About our team**:
The Office of the Chief Clinical Officers (OCCO) sits within the System Performance and Monitoring Directorate and leads the Clinical Leadership and System Quality and Safety functions.
This means ensuring strategy, policy, regulation, legislation, and system monitoring and performance is informed by evidence-based clinical expertise, lived experience, and health system experience. The function provides clinical and professional leadership and advice across the Ministry and sector partners to support equitable health outcomes for Māori, and for all people of Aotearoa, and convenes clinical professions to help influence the future direction of the system.
The system quality and safety function provides advice and assurance that all parts of the overarching quality systems are in place, fit for purpose and working well together.
**Ngā Pūkenga me ngā Wheako - Skills & Experience**:
You will lead and support Ministry and sector wide approaches and ensure delivery and alignment of key work programmes and build close working relationships with stakeholders to be able to provide sound guidance and support for nursing professionals.
**To be successful in the role you will have the following**:
A registered medical practitioner holding a current Annual Practising Certificate
Senior experience working in a General Practice/Primary Care setting
Extensive experience in developing and maintaining effective professional relationships with a wide range of high-level stakeholders
An understanding of machinery of government and health system operation.
Knowledge of key issues impacting on the New Zealand health and disability sector including a clear understanding of the current and emerging issues and inequities
A commitment to Te Tiriti O Waitangi and working in partnership to improve outcomes for Māori
