At Manatū Hauora - Ministry of Health we are the kaitiaki of the health system, providing leadership and driving strategy and performance. We regulate the health sector and are the primary source of advice on health matters.
Mental health, addiction and suicide prevention are health system and government priorities, with the Ministry as chief advisor to the Minister for Mental Health and leading a whole-of-government approach to mental wellbeing. You will be providing expert mental health and addiction clinical advice and leadership. You will be developing and overseeing the work programme for mental health and addiction clinical advice and input from the mental health and addiction clinical advisors, as well as working across the wider Clinical, Community and Mental Health Directorate.
You will meet with Ministers to provide senior level clinical input into advice and expertise required for Government decisions. With your excellent interpersonal and communication skills, you will bring your strong relationships with mental health and addiction clinical and service leaders as well as seamlessly forging relationships so you can provide evidence-based clinical input into agency decisions and work programmes.
Mental health, addiction and suicide prevention are complex areas, and we acknowledge that your expertise may be in one more than the others. We also acknowledge you may bring speciality expertise within these areas or may want to continue to practice alongside this role. If this is the case, we still want to hear from you. We are interested in hearing from people seeking part-time flexibility and opportunities to work alongside others to bring a range of skillsets to this role. Please contact us if you have any questions regarding how this could work for you.
