**About the Ministry for Regulation**

The Ministry for Regulation is a small government agency with a big job to do.

We’re focused on lifting quality across all regulatory systems and supporting agencies with regulatory responsibilities to align with good practice. We want it to be easier for businesses to innovate, grow and comply, while still ensuring the benefits from regulation that we take for granted won’t change.

**About the Role**

This isn’t just another advisory role — it’s your chance to lead critical change by hearing directly from New Zealanders, influence decision-makers across government, and help to build a smarter, more responsive public service. You’ll work at the heart of government in a central agency, collaborating with passionate professionals who care deeply about making a meaningful difference for New Zealanders and the issues they care about most.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Lead reviews that drive performance and innovation on key issues in a range of portfolios and work areas across government
- Turn data and insights into bold, actionable policy advice
- Champion continuous improvement across the sector
- Influence regulatory change with key decision-makers and stakeholders - internally and externally
- Deliver tangible change that has positive impacts for everyday New Zealanders

**You will bring**
- A sharp mind and knack for big-picture thinking
- Experience leading public engagement and cross-sector work
- Confidence and experience in challenging the status quo
- Sound strategic thinking skills, including system-level analysis, cost-benefit analysis and impact measurement
- A strong background as a regulatory policy practitioner, with demonstrated experience of leading legislative change from policy development through to implementation
- Adept at leading a high-performance project team in a dynamic and fast-paced environment where we embrace matrix management

**Salary Range**:$145,563 - $193,287 dependent on skills and experience
