**Summer Assistant Vacancy - Legal & Commercial (Fixed term - 12 weeks)**:

**Te Tūranga - The Role**:
Our Legal & Commercial Team supports Bay of Plenty Regional Council across multiple projects is working on...and we need your help

The Bay of Plenty Regional Council’s complex operating environment provides unique scope for developing your knowledge and skills across a wide range of work including:

- Commercial work involving contracts, procurement activities and contract management;
- Risk management and health and safety matters;
- Information management such as requests under the Local Government Official Meetings and Information Act and Privacy Act;
- Specific functional areas and legislative requirements such as Maritime, and Civil Defence & Emergency Management.

In this role you will:

- Support the Legal & Commercial team in their work and gain practical and hands on experience through research, drafting documentation, and observing meetings with internal and external stakeholders.
- Assist the team with day to day administrative tasks as well as taking ownership of certain projects during this period which will require you to engage and work with other teams across the organisation with the support and oversight of the Legal & Commercial Team.

You’ll be joining the Legal & Commercial Team. We are a team of professional individuals embedded within the organisation who provide high quality support and advice to the organisation on legal, commercial and procurement matters. You’ll work alongside and support the team in their day to day work as well as taking ownership of certain projects.

**Ngā Pūkenga, ngā wheako - Your Skills & Experience**:
We are looking for someone who:

- Has proven excellent communication skills - written and verbal.
- Works well in a collaborative environment.
- Has basic administrative skills including experience working with Microsoft systems including SharePoint.
- Must be studying towards or have completed a Bachelor of Laws.
- Experience working in an office environment would also be an advantage.
- Holds a current driver's licence.

This position will be located in Tauranga.
