**Mō te tūranga | About the role**

In this role you will be instrumental in delivering the key strategic and planning outcomes for the Waikato Regional Council. Reporting to the Corporate Planning Manager, you will work across the business to help translate Council’s vision into work programmes that will shape a better Waikato.

You will be responsible for:

- Leading the development of the Annual Plan and helping shape Council’s next Long Term Plan.
- Leading coordination of business planning across the organisation, including the implementation of Long Term Plan work programmes.
- Preparing corporate reports and submissions to external agencies on issues of interest to Council.
- Support in reporting on Council’s performance against goals, priorities, and measures.
- Providing advice to Council around legislative requirements.

- Confidence in building excellent relationships and working collaboratively across diverse groups.
- Possess’ exceptional time management skills, and the ability to negotiate timeframes and meet deadlines, thriving in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong analysis skills with an eye for detail and a proactive approach.
- While the role is advertised as full time, we can accommodate working part-time (28 hours +)

**Mō ngā pūkenga | Qualifications and experience**
- A strong background in corporate planning or a related field (strategy, policy, planning, law, resource management or similar) and a relevant tertiary qualification.
- Previous project management experience across complex projects.
- The ability to interpret legislation and provide practical advice in relation to the Local Government Act is preferred, as well as applied understanding of effective communication and engagement practices (IAP2).

**Mō te tīma | About the team**
- This role sits within the Corporate Planning team in the Finance and Business Services directorate.
- The Corporate Planning team is responsible for developing Council’s Long Term Plan, annual planning and reporting, and associate strategies and policies.
- We work across the business, with territorial authorities, other regional partners, and our communities.
- We also support the business through corporate projects, which involve staff at all levels as well as our councillors.
