Te Puni Kōkiri is the government's principal policy advisor on Māori wellbeing and development. We achieve strategic influence with a focus on providing high quality policy advice and holding other agencies to account for delivering public services to, for, and with Māori. This includes our mandate to promote Māori achievement in education, training, health and economic resource development along with performing our monitoring and mentoring roles.

Our Waikato-Waiariki rohe is looking for a **Kaitohu Matua,** **Haumitanga ā-Rohe** **| Senior Regional Investment Advisor.** This role is fixed term until 30 June 2026, based in Tauranga or Hamilton and reports centrally to the Manager, Performance Support based in Te Tari Matua, Pōneke | National Office, Wellington.

**Te whai wāhitanga | The opportunity**

The Senior Regional Investment Advisor will support the successful delivery of our investment programmes across the motu. They will play a critical support role within our regional network. This role is primarily internal facing and will:

- Champion and promote the TPK investment strategy and support regional offices to connect their regional investment strategy.
- Take a business partner approach to understanding the context of the region and supporting regional staff with investment opportunities to ensure investment best practice is maintained.
- Promote best practice funding and contracting processes and systems.
- Provide advice and support to regional staff on the parameters and requirements of investment programmes and initiatives.
- Provide quality assurance advice to Regional Directors across investments.
- Provide regional insights to the portfolio teams to support investment improvements.

To be able to support the rohe, the Senior Regional Investment Advisor will need to understand the local landscape, as well as, from time to time participate in other Te Puni Kōkiri regionally led mahi.

The likely appointment range is $104,317 to $111,271 based on skills and experience.

**Mōu | About you**

In this role you will report to the Manager, Performance Support. To be successful you will have:

- At least three years Senior level experience.
- An ability to identify, build and actively manage relationships, valuing diverse perspectives and experiences.
- Excellent communication skills and strong critical reasoning.
- An understanding of and able to promote and champion best practice contracting processes.
- Excellent communication skills - highly developed skills of persuasion and influence.
- An understanding of government and public sector processes.
- The ability to identify and manage risks and issues.
- Demonstrated capability in providing high quality advice and recommendations.
- Numeracy and competency with spreadsheets and databases.
- Comfort in working in a tikanga / kaupapa Māori environment, a degree of fluency in Te reo Māori is of benefit.
- A willingness and ability to travel regularly across the designated Te Puni Kōkiri region.
- A relevant tertiary qualification.
- A clean full motor vehicle driver's licence.
