**About the Role**

The Chief Advisor, Strategic Partnerships serves as a key strategic partner and problem solver for the organisation. This role is responsible for:

- responding to high priority and complex issues on behalf of the Chief Executive and Board/Commissioners
- assisting the CE and ELT to embed Health NZ and Government's strategic priorities into key work programmes for delivery
- advising the Board/Commissioners, CE and ELT on political nuances to ensure robust and appropriate responses. This includes identifying, understanding and resolving political and strategic issues impacting on the effectiveness of our strategic relationships and delivery programmes
- working with the Board/Commissioners, CE and senior managers to support relationships and engagements with government. This includes building trusted relationships with Ministers offices, the Ministry of Health, the Health Assurance Unit and other public sector agencies
- ensuring the CE is kept well informed and connected to the business, leading and coordinating the response to urgent issues, and identifying and supporting the mitigation of risk

The focus of the business and governance services ensures core business operations are managed in a tight, proactive and timely fashion, overseeing the delivery to required timeframes, acts as the Chief Executives ‘eyes and ears' to ensure there are no surprises, provides early notice of issues impacting the organisation, maintains open lines of communication with all key stakeholders and provides oversight of the Minister's requirements of Health New Zealand to ensure delivery to objectives are met.

**About you**

You have a strong track record of delivering advice and overseeing operational functions within Crown entities or public service departments, particularly across policy, legal, governance, and ministerial areas. With excellent relationship skills, you're able to build trust, resolve issues, and de-escalate situations while reinforcing confidence in Health NZ.

Experience operating in politically sensitive contexts at Board and Ministerial levels enhances your credibility. You also bring valuable insight into the health system, its key stakeholders, and the Government's current direction and policy priorities.
