ANZ's card transaction and settlement platform is part of the ANZ Card Switch Solution, and handles both real-time and batch transaction processing. This system is responsible for processing millions of credit and debit cards transactions per day from ATM, retail and internet channels. It is a high performance, latency critical and robust solution with 24/7/365 availability, and provides an essential service to New Zealand.

What will your day look like

As part of a collaborative multi-discipline team helping to shape our future, you will help deliver diverse development initiatives to maintain and enhance ANZ’s ability to execute card transactions reliably, safely, and securely.

Collaborate with your team and across the bank to design and develop solutions that have the customer experience front and centre, which for payments means fast, secure, and reliable processing of transactions.
Use your expertise in payments, and Card Switching in particular, to analyse the impact of production incidents and if necessary design and develop solutions to address root causes.
Showcase ideas to your team to be able to iterate quickly and share knowledge.
Check in with the team for daily stand ups to address blockers and keep things moving forward.
Learn, innovate, experiment everyday - because underpinning everything we do is a growth mindset.

We know not everyone will bring all of the skills and experience, and at ANZ we are focused on people bringing a growth mindset to their approach to work. Some of the skills we are looking for are below, but don’t worry if you don’t have all of these as learning on the job is the way we work.

But back to some of the skills
- Java and SQL
Strong analysis and problem solving skills.
Card scheme mandate experience (especially Visa, Mastercard, and UPI) and ATM processing knowledge in New Zealand.
Experience in transaction processing systems.
Experience in production support of critical systems would be an advantage.
Patience and perseverance to overcome challenges and solve problems.
Ability to work in a tight team environment, both in person and remotely.
Being comfortable with ambiguity and being able to adapt in a constantly evolving environment.
