Wellington City, New Zealand The Treasury Full time

**Have you got what it takes to shape Aotearoa New Zealand's tomorrow?**

**We have two exceptional opportunities for a Senior Analyst and Analyst to work at the centre of government to improve the value of public spending. Joining our team will see you working in a caring and collaborative team environment, advancing your skills and career, while shaping a better tomorrow for all New Zealanders.**

**Mō mātou | About Us**

At Te Tai Ōhanga The Treasury we're creating a better future for New Zealand and everyone who calls our amazing country home. We're the Government's economic and financial advisor, working hard to raise the standard of living for everyone in Aotearoa, now and in the future. Our talented people bring their diverse backgrounds and experiences to tackling New Zealand's biggest and most inter-connected issues. Every day, they are influencing, advising, and supporting Government decision-makers to shape our country's collective tomorrow.

The **Spending Review** Team works on high priority projects for Government for improving the value of public spending for New Zealanders. We provide influential advice on government spending and its effectiveness and efficiency, bringing together policy, systems, economic and financial analysis skills. We work with stakeholders within Treasury and across government on fast-paced projects that contribute to upcoming Budgets and medium-term system improvements.

**Kōrero mō ng**ā** tūranga | About the Roles**

We have openings for a Senior Analyst and an Analyst to join our team. The roles will include advising the Minister of Finance on options to improve the value of public spending. The work programme has flexibility and has various projects, which enable us to tailor individual's responsibilities to their skills, interests and business needs at the time. We expect the work programmes would cover a mix of:

- Developing and implementing cross-government approaches to improve value such as the recently introduced Performance Plans
- As part of a project team that scopes and reviews areas of spending to identify options to improve value - this could be within specific departments or across functions and types of spending.
- Coordinating with central agency colleagues to collectively drive public sector improvements

**Ō pūmanawa | About You**

Across both roles, we are seeking people with:

- Excellent analytical and strategic skills
- Strong implementation skills, able to deliver on time and to quality standards
- Highly developed communication, influencing and relationship management skills, with the ability to have impact within and across government
- An effective problem solver
- Cultural intelligence and a growth mind-set
- A generous, team-player attitude

The role will suit self-starters comfortable working with ambiguity as our projects can involve exploring unfamiliar areas of spending or designing new policies or processes. Further, it would likely suit people from public sector, consultancy, or from within business where the focus is on increasing efficiency and effectiveness.

We are committed to employing people, with a wide range of academic, cultural and social backgrounds and experiences, who represent the New Zealand community we serve.

**Ko ngā hua | What we Offer**

These are important jobs and that's why we'll do all we can to support your success.

Appointing salary for the Analyst role will be between $90,041 and $105,930 per annum, and for the Senior Analyst role it will be between $126,612 and $148,955 per annum. This is based on skills and experience and inclusive of Kiwisaver. The role is based in Wellington.

Flexible work arrangements and five weeks annual leave, along with a range of other health and wellbeing initiatives, will help you enjoy a positive work/life balance. Our numerous social events, sports teams and employee networks will enable you to connect and have fun.

The wharenui, at the heart of our workplace, embodies our commitment to diversity and making this an inclusive place that will welcome the unique experiences and perspectives you bring to our collaborative team culture.

We'll prioritise your development, offering you opportunities to train and advance your chosen career. The work will stimulate and challenge you, helping you learn, grow and build valuable experience and skills.
