Company Description
**Te Tākinatanga | Our Story**
At Contact, we believe home is the most important place in the world. It's all part of our vision to leave Aotearoa better than we found it. We’re a power and broadband company, but we’re so much more than that. We are transforming the ways we mahi, and how Aotearoa is powered, leading the charge on renewable energy and digitising customer journeys in ways not yet seen here. A team of 1000+ from all walks of life who love what we do, look out for each other, and learn from one another every day, we’re stoked to be guided by our tikanga: we touch lives to make life better.
**Job Description**:
**Kōrero mō te tūranga | About the role***
We’re on a major growth trajectory. Our **two** newly created Technical Lead positions will get to work at the forefront of some of our most exciting digital innovations, deeply involved in Generation & Trading projects or the fast-moving, fast-developing Retail space. Wherever you land, as Technical Lead you’ll mentor the development team, design and size solutions for projects, set up and maintain the Digital DevOps pipeline, create best practice, and roll your sleeves up to write clean, well-factored code that is easy to read and test.
Part of a big, social team who report to our Head of Digital Delivery, the Technical Lead is “the” person who knows how everything hangs together. Shared across squads, you’ll offer guidance, solutions, and operational support when and where needed, recommend new technologies to accelerate our Digital transformation, and ultimately be a key contributor to the Architectural Roadmap for Contact.
You’ll find the best of both worlds here, working in a Digital team which is still relatively compact - very much like working for a software house, where everyone knows each other and pitch in to help out when need be; but backed by a large, stable organisation that’s not going anywhere. We’re fully flexible, meaning you can work how, where and when works best for you. From a technology point of view, we’re in a state of continuous improvement, so there’s plenty to sink your teeth into, but we work with a pretty up-to-date stack, meaning you won’t tear your hair out in the process.
Vertically, we work in squads; horizontally, we have a practice model, and you’ll be across a couple (similar to a guild or chapter). We’re big on celebrating success, with squads each having their own social celebrations - being on a few means you’ll have lots of social opportunities here, too
**Qualifications**:
**Ko wai koe | About you**
We’re an AWS house, so you need to be an AWS expert. You could be a senior developer with strong Cloud experience who’s dabbled in solution/technical design, or you might be somebody with a solution design background who just prefers to spend a good chunk of your life still on the tools. We’re open to either, so long as you have AWS Cloud expertise (e.g., EC2, S3, Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, RDS) and CI/CD experience including GitLab and GitHub.
With the sheer pace things move at here, you’ll need to be an innate problem-solver with strong business acumen who’s able to handle multiple important tasks at once, including the unexpected (as you’ll be involved with incidents). Your communication skills will need to be on point, with the ability to convey complex information simply, translate technical speak for business users, coach other developers to solve complex problems, and from time to time, present to leadership.
You don’t strictly _need _the following, but if you happen to have experience in eCommerce and Digital Customer Service Channels, front-end JS frameworks (preferably React JS), and mobile development (iOS/Android/React Native), we’d be stoked. We’ll also look favourably on experience with NoSQL and Relational databases, Typescript, experience in developing and integrating with third party APIs, working with C#, Sitecore, and working in a scrum environment.
Additional Information
There are a bunch of perks to being a permanent Contact kaimahi (employee). Along with great leadership, teammates, development, and growth and progression opportunities, you’ll enjoy flexible working, free health insurance cover, better-than-your-average leave, access to Contact Shares, a ‘Good to be Home’ annual payment toward your home set up & wellbeing, discounts on Contact Energy products_, _and more.
