Deliver whanau focused programmes and interventions in Kohuora Auckland South Corrections Facility

About You
You are a confident, flexible and experienced Programme Facilitator with with experience working collaboratively with families, particularly Māori and Pasifika, and will have a sound understanding of the concept of Whānau ora.
You are comfortable with the idea of working in an all-male prison where the men and their whānau come from all walks of life. You are in possession of a personal set of values and attitudes toward prisoners, which will be expressed as role-model behaviour for the men in the prison and their families in the community.
You will be working as part of a passionate and committed team alongside other programme facilitators and psychologists providing a comprehensive suite of services to meet the rehabilitative needs of prisoners. We are looking for innovative and creative people, with a good knowledge of Te Reo Māori or Pasifika languages who are enthusiastic about making a difference in the lives of others.
About the Role
Reporting to the Cultural Assistant Director, you will be working as part of a passionate and dedicated team. You will be responsible for the planning, preparing and delivering of whanau focused programmes and interventions to male prisoners, with an emphasis on better outcomes for Māori and Pasifika.
You will work with whānau to provide them with the support and assistance needed to support their family members while in custody and on release. As the Whānau liaison, you will work under a Whānau Ora model taking a strength-based approach. Additionally, the Whānau Liaison Officer will be required to deliver whanau focused programmes and interventions to prisoners, which aim to encourage participants to strengthen whanau relationships and motivate them to effect pro-social life changes.
**Key Functions Include**:
Using restorative approaches to help prisoners, their whānau, and the wider community
Walking alongside the men to help strengthen relationships with their whanau
Delivering whanau focused programmes and interventions in Kohuora Auckland South Corrections Facility
Working closely with colleagues and external agencies to enable effective rehabilitation and rehabilitation outcomes for prisoners and their whanau
Attending meetings and hui representing whanau perspectives
Organising and delivering whanau events
**To be successful in this role, you will have**:
Experience delivering programmes/interventions to offenders - desirable.
Experience working collaboratively with families, particularly Māori and Pasifika, and will have a sound understanding of the concept of whānau ora.
A proven track record of planning and preparing interventions and monitoring progress to enable optimal participation and effective learning for the men in our care
An ability to collaborate with colleagues, particularly in the areas of Case management, Security, and Health
The ability to demonstrate the highest levels of personal integrity and ethical behaviour
Experience in confidently and professionally networking - both internally and externally
A commitment to better outcomes for Māori and an appreciation for the partnership principles in the te Tiriti o Waitangi
