The Takitimu North Link Stage 1 project will provide a four lane inter-regional connection between the existing SH2 from near Loop Road, Te Puna in the west, to SH29 Takitimu Drive Toll Road in the east, and includes an on-ramp from Fifteenth Avenue to the SH29 Takitimu Drive Toll Road. The new 6.8km long four lane highway will bypass Te Puna and Bethlehem townships, improving the efficiency and safety of the strategic network, and will support growth in the Minden area.

This major infrastructure project, currently in construction, is a Road of National Significance and contributes to building a transport network that enables people and freight to move around efficiently, quickly, and safely. The project involves 3 million cubic metres of earthworks as well as the construction of 10 bridges, 19 culverts, 8 stream diversions and 7 wetlands.

Fulton Hogan is constructing the project in a joint venture with HEB Construction, continuing a long and successful partnership on large projects in the Bay of Plenty.

We have a great opportunity for a hands-on Traffic Manager to work with an outstanding project team to lead the co-ordination of Traffic Management functions required to deliver this high-profile project in Tauranga. This is a great opportunity to influence best for project outcomes and is ideal for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced project where your leadership and solution focused approach can shine. From a Traffic perspective the project involves working with NZTA, Tauranga city council and Western Bay of Plenty councils and involves active worksites on over 3.5km of SH29 and SH2 and multiple local roads.

In addition to the above you will:
Work closely with the construction delivery teams to provide overall leadership for traffic management activities and requirements across the project. This will include:

- Coordinating all traffic closures for the Project managing interfaces with other TTM on the network.
- Liaising with client, consultants and contractors to develop a full TMP programme including management of financial budgets.
- Designing, preparing and reviewing traffic management plans and operations for the code of practice for temporary traffic management (COPTTM) and NZGTTM.
- Maximising the use of traffic closures to reduce closure numbers.
- Auditing & focus on continuous improvement ensuring high quality of TTM providing a safe worksite for our people and customers travelling through site every day.

Lead and co-ordinate the preparation and implementation of staging plans, traffic guidance schemes and all traffic switches, with a focus on the end user and ensuring that signage and line marking is safe and easy to follow.

As clear and open communication is key to the role; you will liaise with a range of stakeholders in terms of traffic impacts, working closely to negotiate and mitigate the impact of major closures to ensure the project is delivered with mínimal disruption.

We’re looking for someone with:

- Experience working on large construction projects
- Strong time management; prioritising and directing TTM resource managing competing resource demands in a high paced project construction environment
- Sound working knowledge of Traffic Management standards
- Suitable TTM Training and approvals under NZGTTM to lead traffic management on active state highway network.
- Minimum TTM Level STMS level 2/3 Non-Practising
- Experience in TTM Auditing to ensure high standard of TTM delivery is maintained.
- Experience leading STMS and TCs on site including subcontractors.
- Experience in the design and delivery of long-term traffic management installations using temporary barriers.
- Ability to assess risk and documenting risk assessments as required by NZGTTM
