About the role | Mō tēnei tūranga mahi
This is an exciting time to join us as a permanent Principal Advisor in our Wellington-based People & Culture team.
You will be reporting to our Manager, People & Culture, and will lead the development and delivery of the People & Culture (P&C) partnering centre of excellence activities. The role will guide the team to support and influence the Commission's management team as well as provide Business Partnering services to the Executive Leadership Team (ELT).

You will have proven leadership and management experience in an HR services environment. You will be experienced in working with senior leadership and can influence and constructively challenge others in a professional manner. You are excellent at stakeholder engagement, building relationships and comfortable working in a diverse, fast-paced environment. Being able to think strategically will help you look ahead for potential challenges and develop applicable solutions.
What you'll be doing | He aha tāu e mahi ana
- Leading and enabling the P&C partnering team to provide high-quality, specialist strategic and operational HR advice.
- Provide HR business advice to our ELT.
- Mentoring and developing junior staff and peers.
- Manage the implementation of key people initiatives and projects, ensuring deadlines are met and outcomes are achieved.
- Manage and support complex employment relations and disciplinary cases as they arise.

What you'll need to succeed | Ko ngā mea ka hiahiatia e koe kia angitū
- A relevant tertiary qualification and at least 8 -10 years of experience in a senior advisory role.
- Well-developed influencing skills.
- High level of computer literacy.
- Experience developing written material to meet business requirements while at the same time knowing your audience.
- Experience working in the public sector and an understanding of public sector standards.
